community involvement
We live here too.
systech has been part of Southwest Oregon since 2017. Part of it, not simply located in it. This page is about where the team shows up when there is no invoice attached.

A company that only shows up when it is being paid is a vendor. We have never wanted to be that.
The people who work here live in these towns. When a local organization needs a hand it usually reaches someone on this team before it reaches the company. Supporting that work was never designed as a marketing program. It is mostly what happens when your staff and the people they are helping shop at the same grocery store.
Mostly, it comes back to kids
Ask anyone here where systech shows up and you tend to get the same answer.
systech is a trade. The work is technical, it is learned by doing, and plenty of the people here found their way in by a route that did not run through a four-year degree. That is not incidental to how the company thinks about its neighbors.
So most of what we do points at young people across Southwest Oregon. Students headed into the trades and technical programs. The youth organizations that give kids somewhere to be between the last bell and dinner. The teams, bands and activities that go first when a school budget gets tight.
Not every kid here is bound for a university, and the ones who are not are the ones who will keep this region running. A certification finished. A set of tools that turns up. A season somebody had counted on sitting out. None of it looks like much from outside. Around here it is often what decides where a kid goes next.
It is the same bet the founders once made on themselves.
Six kinds of work we back
Sometimes that means writing a check. More often it means a few refurbished laptops, a network someone could not otherwise afford, or an afternoon of our team's time.
-
Youth programs
After-school programs, mentorship and clubs. The organizations that give kids somewhere to be between the last bell and dinner.
-
Trades and technical scholarships
Tuition, certifications and tools for students headed into a technical program, plus the equipment the programs teaching them need to do it properly.
-
School athletics and activities
Teams, bands, robotics, FFA. The programs that get cut first and are usually the reason a kid stays engaged at all.
-
Food security and basic needs
Organizations meeting immediate, unglamorous needs for families across Douglas and Coos counties.
-
Veterans and military families
systech is veteran-led. Supporting the organizations serving people who served is not a category we had to be talked into.
-
Community events and civic groups
The fairs, fundraisers, service clubs and volunteer organizations that make a small town feel like one.
How we decide
We say yes to a fraction of what we are asked. Here is what moves a request toward yes.
-
It is local
Southwest Oregon, and most often Douglas or Coos County. We support the places our team actually lives.
-
It reaches people directly
We would rather fund the program than the overhead around it.
-
We can help with more than money
Sometimes the useful thing is hardware, a network, or a few hours from people who know what they are doing.
-
Our help would actually matter
We would rather be meaningful to a small organization than a rounding error in a large one.
This is one chapter of a longer story.
Where the company came from, why the colors mean what they mean, and the rest of the lore.
